Unseasonably warm and dry weather has resulted in an extreme fire hazard in the area.
3L has closed off its private lands due to public safety, environmental concerns, and to preserve the value of its lands – all of which would be jeopardized in the event of a fire.

In this case they do actually own the actual riverbed where it goes through their property. I don’t recall all the details but it goes back 100 years or something. Not sure how they actually acquired it, but they do legally own it.

Yes, corporations owning rivers and lakes is wrong. These bodies of water should be open for everyone. I know these deals go way back in time, when the gov may have thought that the land was endless. But that was a mistake. The gov should force the buyback of river and lake shores and rectify these mistakes. The gov does that for highways, powerlines, dams etc when its in the interest of the population as a whole.
So sad to see this “News” live in Denmark, but have been in the valley around 15 times during my life, Stotan falls was always a must-go-to place, just brought my girl friend for the first time here in September 2015, although there’s many good/deep memories, seeing the salmon jumping up the falls and just standing there watching the flow and listening to the sound is priceless, on one should be able to close off public access, unless of course for safety reasons…Fight For It…Oh no…u don’t fight on paradise Island :o)
