It’s that time of year again and BC Hydro is warning those about to head out into the Puntledge River in the next week, to give it a second thought.
Warm weather has increased snow melt and seen the Comox Lake reservoir rise by as much as 30 cm a day, and now puts the lake near overflowing. This is most likely going to result in Hydro releasing some pressure which will result in higher river levels.
With more warm weather in the forecast this weekend, now is not the time to go tubing. It is recommended that only the most experienced river users with complete control over their vessels should be in the river during the higher flows.
