The Annual Royal LePage Snow To Surf Relay typically takes place in April and consists of events for teams of 9 participants. The events consist of:
- Alpine Skiing
- Cross-Country Skiing
- Running
- Mountain Biking
- Kayaking
- Road Cycling
- Canoeing
Alpine Skiing
Start near top Whiskey Jack Chairlift on Mount Washington. Skiers will run a set distance up the hill with ski boots on and then put on skis, thus causing a staggered start down the mountain.
Nordic Skiing
Skiers will follow a track set course approximately 8 km in length. In the event of snow shortages, the skier MUST be available to run a similar course.
Running
Two runners per team will split a 14+ km downhill run (6.8+ km and 6.4 km) on the Strathcona Parkway.
Mountain Bike
Riders are required to ride a mountain bike only and obey the rules of the road. The route will be flagged and is on logging roads and trails.
Kayak
The kayak leg starts at the Courtenay Fish and Game club and finishes at the campground on the Cumberland side of Comox Lake. (about 5 km)
Road Bike
The cycling route will follow paved roads and highways.
Canoe
Two canoeists will travel in a canoe using single blade paddles and wearing D.O.T. approved life jackets (mandatory) from Courtenay Air Park to Comox Marina Park. Maximum 18’6” canoe length. Course is approximately 5 km.
