The Comox Valley Regional District’s (CVRD) Oyster River fire department has taken delivery of a new 4,000 gallon tanker truck. The truck purchase price was $158,563 with the Oyster River Volunteer Fire Rescue Association contributing up to $8,000 to help pay for the truck.

“This is a much needed investment as the old truck had very high kilometres and failed inspection due to a rusted frame,” said Oyster River Fire Chief Bruce Green. “We are pleased to announce this new truck is in our fleet and will serve the community for the next two decades.”

The cab and chassis were purchased from a local dealer and since the stainless steel tank from the old truck was in good condition, the dealer was able to transfer the steel tank to the new truck.
