For Comox Residents looking to take their dogs to a fenced in off-leash dog park, in the next few months they will no longer need to drive out to Cumberland.

Back in January of 2019 Comox council approved a public consultation process to investigate the feasibility for a dog park within town limits. $20,000 was approved and after some consultation two potential locations were considered; Village Park and Northeast Woods. Now it appears that an agreement with SD71 has been reached to place an off-leash dog park on Wallace Ave, the former site of Comox Elementary.

Construction work is expected to begin soon with a fully operational dog park in place by the Summer of 2021. This is expected to be an interim location for a dog park while plans for a more permanent location at Northeast Woods are finalized.
