After two marine location markers were found on a Victoria beach earlier this month the military is warning not to handle them.
These markers can pose significant danger, when touched they do have the potential to reignite. If you encounter one of these you are urged to leave it where it is and contact police or military immediately.
Designed to sink and deteriorate over time, occasionally these markers do sometimes wash ashore. During an average year between 15 and 30 are found on Vancouver island beaches.
