The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) has increased and expanded its rebate programs for select home-heating and energy-efficiency upgrades to support CleanBC Better Homes rebate programs.
The Province’s CleanBC Program aims to reduce the environmental impacts of existing residential buildings and reduce energy consumption. By using clean energy and using it more efficiently in homes, British Columbians can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality. The following municipal top-up rebate programs are being offered by the CVRD throughout 2021 on a first come first serve while funding is available:
- A $2,000 rebate when switching from a fossil fuel heating system to a high-efficiency heat pump which is an increase from $350.
- A new rebate of $500 for an electrical upgrade when switching from a fossil fuel heating system to a high-efficiency heat pump.
- A $150 rebate when using an energy advisor (program-qualified) to perform a home energy evaluation in order to help plan upgrades to make your home more efficient and comfortable
“We are excited to be able to offer increased incentives to our residents,” explains Alana Mullaly, CVRD Senior Manager of Sustainability and Regional Growth Strategy Planning. “It is a win, win. Residents save money and every little step we take helps us decrease our greenhouse gas emissions.”
Comox Valley residents may be eligible for other rebates offered through Better Homes BC programs for water heating, insulation, windows and doors. Visit https://betterhomesbc.ca/ for more information on the rebate programs available.
Residents with installation invoices dated September 28, 2018 to December 30, 2020 are eligible for a $350 rebate only for switching from a fossil fuel heating system to a high efficiency heat pump and are not eligible for the 2021 revised rebates outlined above.
