If you are a regular user of the Courtenay Riverway walk, you probably noticed some time ago that large concrete blocks had been placed on the trail between 19th & 20th street obstructing access.
The City of Courtenay and Riverfront Developments had an agreement which allowed public access to their land (where the section of the trail crosses). When their agreement expired the blocks were placed by the property owners when a new agreement could not be reached.
After much public outcry over the placement of the concrete blocks, this week, the two parties came to a new agreement and the blocks were removed. The Riverway Walk is now back to business and once again open.
