Approximately 16 kms North of Courtenay along the Old Island Highway you will find the community of Black Creek – the northern most community within the boundaries of the Comox Valley.
Established in the early 20th century as a logging camp (Comox Logging & Railway Camp #3), Black creak became available to German speaking Mennonite settlers. To date, there are still two Mennonite churches in operation in Black Creak (The Mennonite Brethren and United Mennonite).
Black Creek holds a strong feeling of belonging to the community among its residences. Since 1958 The Black Creek Community Association (BCCA) is a group of volunteers working to ensure residents can enjoy sports, health and cultural activities, educational facilities without having to leave the community.
