Saltwater Fishing Report for Comox Valley and Campbell River Waters for May 2012

Fishing has steadily improved closer to the end of May for Chinook salmon off Kitty Coleman. Just pick your favourite Cuttlefish, or Spoon and troll at depths anywhere from 150-220 ft near the Kitty Coleman hump. Remember to check Regulations for Closures in area 14.

The local fishing stores will help you out with the specific lure, hopefully they have what your looking for in stock.

Tribune Bay off Hornby Island have also given up there share of Chinook between 15 and 25 lbs. These fish are mostly marbled migrating on the way to Puget Sound. The odd Halibut has been caught also while trolling off the Hump as well.

Campbell River has had a few large Halibut weighed in at 150 and 180 lbs with reports of several others less than 100 lbs. 2012 Season is shaping up to be another great season locally and around the Island.

Reports have Sockeye starting to show Early up the Port Alberni Inlet, offshore West Coast reports are the action is fantastic, can’t wait to get out there!
