The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) requires all dogs over six months of age to be licensed every year within Electoral Area A – Baynes Sound (except Hornby and Denman), Electoral Area B – Lazo North and Electoral Area C – Puntledge and Black Creek.
2021 dog licenses are now available. Licenses are valid from January 1 until December 31 each year. Residents who live within the City of Courtenay, Town of Comox and Village of Cumberland must contact their municipal office to obtain their annual dog license.
Currently, the cost to license a spayed or neutered dog is five dollars and for a non-spayed or neutered dog is $15. Starting January 1, 2021 dog license costs will be increasing to ten dollars for spayed or neutered dog and $25 for non-spayed or neutered dog.
“Dog license costs will be increasing starting January 1, 2021,” explains CVRD Bylaw Compliance Manager Amanda Yasinski. “The increased cost will be supporting increased patrols, education sessions and animal control programs within the regional district.”
