Comox Burning Ban
Backyard burning will no longer be permitted in Comox now that a system is in place for green waste pickup. Today the Comox Valley Record reported on the repeal of the previous bylaw that allowed backyard burning.
The reduction in backyard burning will assist in a reduction of pollution and fire problems. The regular pickup will also help to decrease the amount of illegal dumping of green waste in vacant lots and along the roadside.
An increase of $36/year for home owner taxes will be used to partially pay for the new service.
