Snow Day in the Comox Valley
The Comox Valley, along with most of Southern BC and Vancouver Island is under a beautiful blanket of white today after a solid day of snowfall.
Kids from all over the Island are today enjoying a day off school as districts from Vancouver to Victoria, and half way up the island are either snowed inn, or just too icy to be safe.
What a great way to start off the wee with a day off. Unfortunately for most of us adults, the Snow Day was just another day of work with memories of being a kid.

Wet, wet, and more wet
Well - only a matter of a few weeks ago Comox Lake was at all time low levels - just yesterday I drove up to take a look and the level is nice and high with lots of water for everyone. Labels: weather
The rain keeps falling with no signs of it letting up in the long range forecast. What does this rain mean to the Valley? Well, aside from the cancellation of water restrictions, it also means a ton of snow up the mountain! Mt. Washington has quite a bit of snow so far which is great!

Needed Rainfall hits the Valley
As I write this I am looking out the window at the much needed rain. While I would like to take the dog out for a walk, I really don't mind staying in due to the wet weather. This rainfall is long overdue, and only a matter of a couple of weeks ago the Comox Lake Reservoir was at an all time low in its 43 years of recorded history.
The past few days have seen a noticeable amount of rain fall, and while it is far from what we truly need, it is enough to avoid stage 3 water restrictions. The forecast, according to the weather network, shows several days or rain over the next week.
The weekend may not be one to spend hiking or sitting down on the beach, but at least at the end of the day there is plenty of water to drink.

First Signs of Winter
The first signs of winter are apparent up Mt. Washington. A look at the Snow Cam shows some of the white stuff on the ground! While it may very well melt before more snow falls, its certainly a start!
It wont be long before the mountain opens up for the season so be sure to purchase your seasons passes. Passes are available online or by calling the Season Pass office. For more info visit Mt Washingtons official site.
