Red Friday in Downtown Courtenay

September 12th, 2008 | Tags: ,

In order to support our Canadian Troops, a “Red Friday” parade is scheduled for today at 5:30 in downtown Courtenay. Residents are asked to come down wearing red to support local military serving here and overseas. Currently there are more than 60 personnel from 19 Wing Comox who are abroad in Afghanistan.

Those who would like to participate are asked to meet at the corner of 5th and Harmston at 5:00. The parade will be led by the RCMP, local politicians, and the 19 Wing Commander. The Courtenay Legion Pipe Band and Air Cadet Bands will provide music for the march.

The parade will end up in Lewis Park where large banners will be ready for signing to then be shipped off to personnel serving in the middle east, as well as cake provided by Thrifty Foods.
