What are you doing this Jan 1 (2009)? The 30th annual Polar Bear Swim takes place tomorrow at Saratoga Beach.

Pre-registration takes place at 11, with the swim set for noon.

Dress up in your best costume, pack your hot chocolate and join everyone at the beach for the fun!

The Courier Islander recommends some tips provided by VIHA:

• If you have heart disease or any known medical condition consult your doctor first
• Do NOT drink alcohol before the swim, it accelerates hypothermia
• Make your stay in the water as brief as possible
• Don’t get undressed until immediately before going into the water
